Juventus Rules Themselves Out of the Race to Sign Papu Gomez
Papu Gomez Not a Juventus Target
Juventus have ruled themselves out of signing want-away 32-year-old, Papu Gomez. The Bianconeri, who have been known for their shrewd transfers, have opted against signing the Argentine who has been one of the key players in Atalanta’s impressive performances.
Juve’s Sporting Director, Fabio Paratici, said to Sky Sports ahead of his side’s match against Atalanta: “Papu Gomez idea of the market? Absolutely not, he’s a very good player and he’s from Atalanta, but we are very happy with our players.”
Papu Gomez is expected to move out of Atalanta during the next transfer window. The 32-year-old reportedly had a bust-up with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini during their Champions League match against FC Midtjylland. The Argentine himself confirmed his decision after posting a farewell message to the Atalanta fans through an Instagram story.
Paulo Dybala’s Contract Extension High on the Agenda for Juventus
While Juventus has ruled themselves out of a move Gomez, they have once again spoken about their intent on extending the contract of Paulo Dybala. Dybala, whose contract ends in 2022, has recently been linked with a move away from Turin. The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has seen the Argentine failing to reproduce the form that made him one of the best players in the world.
While speaking to Sky Sports, Paratici also added about the club’s decision on Dybala. He said: “The Dybala case? The president clearly explained what the situation is current.
“With Paulo, we have a great relationship, we have invested on him by buying it from Palermo five years ago when he was very young and we have invested in him as our number 10. We’re gonna meet the agent of Paulo Dybala to talk about his contract.”
