Hughton: Win Gives the Team an Incredible Lift

After a catastrophic implosion last season, the Reds ended a run of four consecutive league defeats by winning at Ewood Park thanks to Joe Lolley‘s late goal.

The winger cleverly beat his marker and watched as his long-range strike deflected off a defender and beyond the flat-footed Thomas Kaminski.

Speaking afterwards, Hughton said to NottinghamshireLive: “I hope that restores confidence to the players, particularly in the manner of the game when you score so late.

“It gives the team an incredible lift. In this division the games come around so quickly.

“There’s almost a feeling now of turning to Tuesday and Rotherham. I hope we can take this good feeling into that game.

“They worked very hard. As a manager if you lose because someone scores a worldie then you can put your hands up and say the team gave everything.

“That was the case today.

“We’ve all been through those difficult periods so sometimes when you win a game in that manner it’s an even nicer feeling.

“We’ve come to a team that’s in really good form, at home, and in periods of the game they showed why they’re in form.

“The pleasing aspect is that we got stronger as the game went on.

“We wanted to be solid but have chances too. Did I see the goal coming? Probably not.

“The game was looking like it would be a 0-0 draw.

“We finished strong, which was good.”

Next up for Forest are two consecutive home matches, against Rotherham (Tuesday) and Derby County (Friday).
