England U21 Squad Announcement: Japhet Tanganga and Curtis Jones Get First Call-Ups

England U21 manager Aidy Boothroyd has named his squad for the upcoming Euro U21 qualifiers against Andorra and Turkey. Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga and Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones have been called up to the squad for the first time, while Dwight McNeil is back in after controversially missing out on the last squad.

The Matches

Boothroyd’s side will first take on Andorra next Wednesday away from home. Upon their return, they will face Turkey at Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ Molineux on Tuesday, October 13.

Last time out, the Young Lions were 6-0 winners against Kosovo and followed that up with a 2-1 victory against Austria.

Elsewhere, Rhys Williams, who made his home debut for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night, has been included in the U20 squad for their friendly against Wales. Derby County quartet Lee Buchanan, Louie Sibley, Morgan Whittaker and Bobby Duncan have also been included.

In the U19 squad, Wolves’ Luke Matheson, formerly of Rochdale, and Manchester United’s Teden Mengi have been called-up, as has Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott.
