The Colombian attacking midfielder has already played twice under current Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Statement Signing

Everton spotted that the Colombian only had 12 months left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and was not intending to renew with the Spanish giants.

The deal is believed to for two years and the player was keen to seal a move to the English Premier League. The signing itself is accompanied by some statement from Everton as they secure one of Europe’s best players.

A Reunion With Carlo Ancelotti

After producing his best season at Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti, James Rodriguez will be desperate to get going once again under the Italian. The two worked together briefly once more at Bayern Munich, but it wasn’t to be as Ancelotti faced the sack and Rodriguez continued to suffer from injury woes.

Now at Everton, the two have the chance to propel the club towards greater heights. Instead of being a stagnating mid-table club, the Toffees, with Rodriguez playing a starring role, will want to reach the top eight this season and qualify for the Europa League. A player of Rodriguez’ ability should take them towards this new level.

Everton Must Pmprove With Rodriguez

Everton failed to impress last season and a player like Rodriguez will give the club and fans a huge lift. At 29 he still has plenty to offer and will add that bit of star quality to the club that has been lacking for some time.

Everton will now look to push on ahead of the season with their opening game coming against Tottenham Hotspur, in what could be a debut game for Rodriguez.
