REPORT: Paris Saint-Germain Reject Chance to Sign Matteo Guendouzi

Guendouzi

Paris Saint-Germain snubbed the opportunity to sign Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi according to Jason Burt of The Telegraph.

The French midfielder is no longer in Mikel Arteta‘s plans. The Gunners boss seemingly wants to offload Guendozi this season according to reports from Sky Sports.

No Interest for Guendouzi

PSG reportedly remain interested in signing Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin this summer. However, in recent negotiations, the Ligue 1 champions were offered Matteo Guendouzi but rejected the chance to sign the 21-year-old midfielder.

Arteta wants to sell Guendouzi to raise transfer funds in order to strengthen other areas of his squad this summer.

Seemingly, Arteta’s number one target is Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, who Arsenal have been linked with long-term. Partey is reportedly keen to move to London to join Arsenal, but the move will be reliant on whether Arsenal can sell players to raise enough transfer funds.

Arsenal want to command a decent fee for Guendouzi, which would provide them with the finances to make a move for Partey. The 21-year-old has also been linked with a loan move to Valencia this summer, but the Gunners only want to sell the Frenchman.

Out in the Cold at Arsenal

Guendouzi is unlikely to feature under Arteta at Arsenal this season. The French international has not played for the Gunners since he reacted angrily at full time following Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in July.

The Frenchman then missed the final eight games of the season and appears to be out of Arteta’s future plans.

The 21-year-old signed for the Gunners from French side FC Lorient in August 2018 at the age of 19.

He has played 82 games for Arsenal since his arrival. The French midfielder has scored one goal and has made five assists in his two years at the Emirates.
