Coventry City Re-Sign Full-Back Ryan Giles on Loan From Wolverhampton Wanderers

Coventry City have made their fifth summer signing. The Sky Blues have re-signed full-back Ryan Giles on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Giles arrived during the second half of the season, helping Coventry secure promotion to the Championship. His arrival continues manager Mark Robins’ recruitment drive as he looks to build a team ready to compete in the second tier.

Giles Will Spend the 2020/21 Season With the Sky Blues

Coventry announced via their website they had agreed on a deal to re-sign the full-back. Giles arrives on loan for the season with the deal to go through once the transfer window officially opens next Monday.

Giles joined Coventry on loan in January but the suspension of the season saw him restricted to just one appearance. However, Mark Robins was impressed enough with what he saw and has decided to bring him back.

The versatile full-back can play in various positions. He can play in either full-back role and has been used on the wing. Giles spent the first half of last season at Shrewsbury Town making 25 appearances, scoring one goal – a brilliant winning goal on his debut against Portsmouth.

Mark Robins Pleased to Bring Giles Back For a Second Spell

Speaking to the club’s website about his new signing, manager Mark Robins said: “We’re very pleased to have the chance to welcome Ryan back to the Club.

“When he joined us in January, Ryan had been a player who has been within our Recruitment process and who we’d been aware of for the previous two years.

“Ryan impressed us in training and around the squad and he was unlucky not to appear more during his loan, then, of course, the season was curtailed due to the Coronavirus, so it’s great to have the opportunity to welcome him back.

“He can play a number of positions, but particularly on the left of the defence or midfield. He has great technical ability, is good going forward and will be a real asset to the squad for the season ahead.”

“We look forward to working with Ryan again, and thanks Wolves for agreeing to the loan and allowing Ryan to train with us before it is formally completed.”
