Club’s Statement

The club confirmed the positive test on Tuesday afternoon. The self-isolation period of seven days means that whoever tested positive will no longer be eligible for the game.

A statement on the club website read: “After last Thursday’s league-wide testing for COVID-19 completed by Bristol City players and staff at the club’s training facility, we can confirm that one member of the testing group tested positive for coronavirus.”

The individual is asymptomatic, therefore, likely to make a full recovery.

In the latest round of testing, Championship clubs reported six positive tests ahead of the resumption of the campaign.

The Return of the Championship

Championship football will return on Saturday with Bristol City taking on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. Promotion rivals Fulham and Brentford clash at Craven Cottage, whilst West Bromwich Albion face rivals Birmingham City.
