REPORT: Inter Milan Want Antoine Griezmann In Exchange For Lautaro Martinez

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Lautaro Martinez for several months now, but a deal has never seemed to be on the table. However, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, via Marca, Inter Milan are prepared to ask for an exchange deal between Antoine Griezmann and Lautaro Martinez if Barcelona decides to go after the Argentine in the summer. The deal would see Griezmann depart Barcelona after just one, fairly average, season at the club.

For the two players, the deal certainly makes sense with Griezmann handed a lifeline in the form of a move to Milan, and Martinez given the chance to play for one of the greatest clubs in the history of football. The Argentine would link up with fellow countryman, Lionel Messi, to form a deadly partnership in Spain. And it’s a deal that Barcelona so desperately need with Luis Suarez edging past his peak at 33-years-old, making a replacement for the Uruguayan a top priority this summer.

The Inter Milan Lifeline for Griezmann

At the other end of the deal, Griezmann would be handed a much-needed career lifeline in the form of Inter Milan, where he could finally get back to his Atletico Madrid form. The Frenchman is almost certain to leave the Nou Camp this summer after enduring a disappointing debut season after a big-money move. The former Atletico Madrid forward cost Barcelona a whopping £120 million last summer, a fee the Frenchman has failed to pay back through goals with just eight in La Liga this season.

This makes a summer deal for Martinez all the more important for Barcelona as they look to finally get their man in the transfer window after many failed attempts. Martinez could prove to be the difference-maker for Barcelona and take them to the next level that they once consistently performed to.
