The Deal

Mansfield announced via their website they had signed the midfielder. Evans arrives on loan for the remainder of the season looking to get some first-team football under his belt.

After joining the Swans’ academy at the age of eight, Evans made his first appearance for the club’s U23s in December 2015 and signed a new deal at the Liberty Stadium 19 months later. Evans is also a regular international for Wales U23s.

Speaking to the Mansfield website about his new signing, manager Graham Coughlan said: “Jack is a tidy footballer, from a good footballing background.

“He will come in and cover the positions which we have lost through the departures of Jacob and Otis. He plays the game the way in which we want to play, and he should be a good fit for us.”

Swansea Confirm Evans’ Departure

Swansea confirmed via a club statement that Evans had left to join Mansfield.

The statement read “Swansea City midfielder Jack Evans has joined Mansfield Town on loan for the remainder of the season, subject to international clearance.

“The 21-year-old links up with the Stags, with Graham Coughlan’s side sitting 21st in the League Two table.

“Evans, who recently signed a new contract with the Swans through to the summer of 2021, first joined the club’s academy at the age of eight.

“After missing the entire 2018-19 season while he received successful treatment for cancer, the central midfielder returned to captain the club’s under-23s side this term – making 13 appearances in Premier League 2 Division 2.

“He made his first-team debut as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup victory over Cambridge United in August. We wish Jack every success in his spell at Field Mill.”
