Championship Experience to Help Relegation Battle

The 28-year-old has a wealth of experience that will help the Addicks in their fight to fend off relegation.

Charlton are currently 21st in the Championship, having seen a dramatic dip in form after an excellent start to the season.

They have just three wins in their last 21 games, the last of which came against Bristol City on Boxing Day.

Davis began his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers; however, he spent much of his time at Molineux out on loan, with six spells coming across five years.

He then joined Birmingham City in 2014, where he has since remained. Across a five-and-a-half-year spell at St Andrew’s, Davis made 194 appearances from central midfielder.

During the first half of this season, he made 15 appearances for Pep Clotet’s side but has not registered a goal or assist.

What Was Said

Speaking about the arrival of Davis at The Valley to the official Charlton website, manager Lee Bowyer said: “I’m delighted, especially so late on.

“He’s another player that’s going to come in and strengthen the squad. We’ve brought David in because of his experience. He’s played over 150 games in this division. He’s a man and he’s a winner.”

Meanwhile, Steve Gallen, Director of Football at Charlton Athletic said: “He’s a good athlete with a good attitude. He’s a big, strong boy. During January we were looking to add an athletic type to our midfield to go with what we already have and I’m pleased we’ve been able to do that.”

Lee Bowyer’s side host relegation rivals in their next two games, facing Barnsley at home before travelling to Stoke City on Saturday 8 February.
