Nottingham Forest duo Zach Clough and Liam Bridcutt are reportedly on Sunderland's wanted list. The pair are available for loan and could move to Wearside.
Sunderland's Wanted List

Nottingham Forest duo Liam Bridcutt and Zach Clough are on Sunderland’s wanted list according to the Sunderland Echo. Phil Parkinson is looking to strengthen his promotion-chasing squad this month and the Forest pair appear to be on his wishlist. The Black Cats are currently on a six-game unbeaten run and are now six points off top spot with a game in hand. Parkinson hopes that new additions will strengthen his squad sufficiently to gain automatic promotion come the end of the season.

Bridcutt and Clough on Sunderland’s Wanted List

Liam Bridcutt

Midfielder Bridcutt needs little introduction to most Sunderland fans. The former Brighton and Hove Albion player spent two years at the Stadium of Light between 2014 and 2016. The Black Cats were a Premier League Club in those days and Bridcutt was out of his depth for the majority of the time. He has since spent time at Leeds United, Bolton Wanderers and his current club Nottingham Forest.

The 30-year-old would be an underwhelming signing in the eyes of many; however, his experience in the Championship and League One could prove useful. Bridcutt is primarily a central midfielder but he can also play in defence. This versatility could make him an attractive option for manager Phil Parkinson. Bridcutt has recently returned to Forest after a loan spell at Bolton. He has just six months left on his current contract and another loan deal is likely to appeal to the Championship club.

Keith Downie of Sky Sports claims on Twitter that the Black Cats are not pursuing Bridcutt. However, this is not to say that the player will not end up at the Stadium of Light this month.

Zach Clough

It has been no secret that Phil Parkinson wishes to strengthen his options in attack. Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty has already been signed; however, another forward option is available. One of those is Forests Zach Clough. The 24-year-old can play either as a striker or an attacking midfielder. Like Bridcutt, Clough’s versatility makes him an attractive option.

Phil Parkinson supposedly admires Clough having managed the player during their time together at Bolton. It was his form with the Trotters that made Nottingham Forest part with £2.5 million in 2017. His time at Forest has not been a success with Clough struggling for fitness for much of his time at the City Ground. It is believed that Clough is available for loan and should he stay fit, his work rate and ability could prove an asset to Sunderland and Phil Parkinson.
