Oxford United Looking to Return to Playoff Spot Against MK Dons

Oxford United

Oxford United face a sixth away day in seven games this weekend when Karl Robinson’s side travel to League One strugglers MK Dons. The U’s slipped out of the playoff places last weekend after drawing against Shrewsbury Town, but MK Dons are winless in eleven league games.

Oxford United Seeking Playoff Place Return

U’s Face Struggling Dons

The U’s are in incredible form, having gone 17 games unbeaten following their goalless draw at home to Shrewsbury last weekend.

But the same can’t be said for the Dons. They earned a credible draw at Doncaster Rovers last time out, but have won just twice from their last sixteen games, with both victories coming in the Football League Trophy. They have also failed to score in ten of those fixtures.

In the league, their draw last time out put a stop to an eleven game losing run.

Team News, Previous Meetings and Prediction.

Oxford could welcome back Cameron Brannagan and Shandon Baptiste from injury, while Alex Rodriguez Gorrin also returns to league action following his suspension.

But Robinson, who managed MK Dons for six years, is still without a number of key players. Goalkeeper Simon Eastwood remains sidelined, as does top scorer James Henry.

For the hosts, Jordan Moore-Taylor was forced off during the warm-up at Doncaster, while Rhys Healey remains out with a thigh problem.

In the league, Oxford have never lost against this opposition, recording two wins and two draws, but lost in the Football League Trophy in 2017.

For Oxford,  Jordan Archer will remain in goal and Rob Hall could return against his side. Matty Taylor, who has been shortlisted for Player of the Month after netting three goals in two games, is likely to start up top.

Prediction: MK Dons 0-2 Oxford United – Robinson’s side should have more than enough about them against a struggling Dons side despite their injury woes.
