Welcome back to Last Word On Football’s round-up of the latest transfer rumours. With the season two months old, it’s becoming more and more apparent where teams need to make changes to their line-ups, and as such the rumour mill continues to turn as we edge towards the January transfer window. In this edition, we take a closer look at the futures of Ben Chilwell, Callum Wilson, Ollie Watkins and Donyell Malen.

Latest Transfer Rumours

Leicester City Searching for Chilwell Replacement

With bid expected to come flooding in for Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, Brendan Rodgers has instructed his scouts to start the search for a replacement, according to Alan Nixon of The Sun.

Reports suggest that Manchester City and Chelsea are expected to start a bidding war for the 22-year-old defender. As such, the Foxes will need a suitable replacement.

Nixon reports that Leicester are keeping an eye on Bolton Wanderers teenager Ronan Darcy. The 18-year-old impressed during a sticky period for Wanderers at the start of the season when they were forced to field a side mainly made of academy players.

Wilson on United’s Radar

Manchester United’s lack of strikers has forced them to consider a move for Bournemouth and England striker Callum Wilson, according to Jack Otway of the Express.

The Red Devils could make the move as early as January due to their lack of players in the forward position. Having sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in the summer, they were left with just Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

Greenwood has impressed in his limited time but Rashford has come under criticism in recent weeks for some poor performances. Wilson’s rise in recent years, though, has seen him called up to the England squad on the last few occasions and he could be the perfect remedy for United’s striker woes.

Watkins Could Get Premier League Move

The Sun’s Alan Nixon also reports that Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is prepared to splash the cash on Brentford forward Ollie Watkins.

The Blades already broke their transfer record in the summer for both Ollie McBurnie and Callum Robinson, but Watkins’ versatility across the front line could be a big asset for the Yorkshire side, and potentially the difference between relegation and survival at the end of the season.

Nixon reports that Wilder will bid around £15 million for the 23-year-old former Crystal Palace target.

AC Milan Join Arsenal in Malen Race

Tuttosport (via Calciomercato) reports that AC Milan have joined Arsenal in the race for PSV Eindhoven starlet Donyell Malen.

The 20-year-old has notched eight goals in as many league appearances this season and has become one of the most sought-after young forwards in Europe.

The Gunners are reportedly ready to offer as much as €56 million for Malen’s services, but Milan will push Unai Emery’s side all the way for the striker’s signature.
