Huddersfield Town fans’ long wait for the new appointment is finally over with the appointment of Danny Cowley. He had been the odds on favourite with the bookies, however, he reportedly turned The Terriers down.
Various articles then linked Cowley with the vacant position at Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls didn’t appoint Cowley, instead opting for Garry Monk. The Imps manager has since stated that no approach to him was made by The Owls.
Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City agreed a compensation package of around £1 million. Cowley was reportedly offered a £1.5 million a year contract. It was then reported the Imps manager turned this down.

Finally, Huddersfield Town have announced that Danny Cowley has joined them along with his brother and assistant manager Nicky.
In the first year with Lincoln City, Cowley guided the club to promotion from non-league back into the Football League. The same season saw The Imps make the quarter-final of the FA Cup, the first non-league club to do so in 25 years.
Last season Cowley guided Lincoln to promotion again, this time to Sky Bet League One. Lincoln City are in the top half of the table and performing very well.
Town Chairman Phil Hodgkinson wanted Cowley as soon as he sacked previous manager Jan Siewert. Although the process seems to have taken a long time, the right man for the job has been found.
What This Means for Huddersfield
After relegation from the Premier League, The Terriers start to the new season has not been great. Sitting in the relegation zone in the Sky Bet Championship, Huddersfield were in desperate need of someone to steady the ship.
Cowley fits the bill perfectly. The Imps manager is a safe pair of hands, yet his record with Lincoln speaks for itself. Dragging a club from non-league to League One in three years is impressive.
Huddersfield will be looking to Cowley to turn around their fortunes and ease them back up the Championship table.
What This Means for Lincoln City
Losing their manager this early in the season will be a blow, however, Cowley leaves the Imps in a much better situation than when he took over. Lincoln will be a very attractive proposition, and the compensation from The Terriers will go a long way.
Finding a replacement for Cowley will not be difficult, Lincoln are in great form and will continue to grow. The Imps look set to at the very least be in the playoffs. The legacy left by Cowley will only see the team develop.
