Taylor Becomes a Yellow – Again

Oxford United needed to sign a striker and they’ve added a real gem to the squad with the addition of Taylor.

Rumours started spreading last week when the Oxford-born 29-year-old was spotted at the Kassam Stadium as the U’s edged out Peterborough United in their League One clash.

As the paperwork was filed before midday, Taylor can feature against Burton Albion tomorrow night.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “It was a crazy weekend. We’re ecstatic. I don’t think there are many better No 9s in the league. This is one we’re all excited about.”

Taylor said: “It’s always been in the back of my mind that I wanted to come back here at some stage, but you just never truly know.

“It’s worked out I’m here now and I’m delighted. I’m itching to get out on the pitch now.”

Taylor made eleven appearances for the U’s, coming through the youth system, before moving to Forest Green Rovers.

The forward then joined Bristol Rovers, winning back-to-back promotions as the Gas shot from the Conference to League One. During his three years at the club, he scored 61 times from 118 league appearances.

After rivals Bristol City activated the striker’s release clause, he found himself at the Championship side. But the 29-year-old has struggled to reach the heights with the Robins, scoring seven league goals from 66 appearances

Thorne to Add Midfield Depth

George Thorne has had an injury-hit career but he’ll be hoping to get it back on track following his arrival at Oxford.

The 26-year-old spent time on loan at Luton Town last season, but his time at Derby has been limited through various injury.

The U’s have one of the best midfields in League One, and if Thorne manages to stay fit and injury-free, he could be another superb addition.
