In the first match of the 2019/20 Premier League season, Liverpool will play host to newly-promoted Norwich City. The Reds are coming off of an electric season in which they won the Champions League and accrued 97 points in the league and will expect more great things this season. Step one is beating the Canaries.
Liverpool Look to Win Big Against Norwich City

After such a great season it is difficult to imagine how the Reds could get stronger. As such, they didn’t make very many moves in the transfer market. 17-year-old defender Sepp van den Berg joined the club but he is very much one for the future.
Former West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian also signed on a free, however, that was it as far as incomings for Liverpool. The highest-profile departure was that of Simon Mignolet who moved to Club Brugge.
There are one or two concerns about the squad depth available to Jurgen Klopp entering the new season but the returns of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherdan Shaqiri should go some way to solving this issue.
Too Strong all the Same
Norwich City, however, will take no solace from Liverpool’s lack of summer spending. While the Canaries did bring in players their squad is nowhere near the level of their first opponents this season.
The club brought in the likes of Sam Byron, Josip Drmic and Ralph Fährmann, who are all decent players, but they simply don’t have the quality to compete with the Reds.
Liverpool still boast two of last season’s three golden boot winners in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, probably the league’s best defender in Virgil van Dijk and quality all over the park otherwise.
Never say never but it would be an enormous surprise should the Reds fall to the Canaries.
