Milan Rebuild Taking Shape

With just over a month to go in the transfer window, AC Milan still have a lot of business on the table.  Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban still have multiple arrivals and departures they want to complete before September 1.  We told you about their interest in Angel Correa earlier this week, but he is just the start.

This morning, Tuttosport reported that Milan are in serious discussion for young Lille sensation Rafael Leao.  The Portuguese attacker is one of the hottest commodities in Europe, and Milan will have to pay Lille’s €35 million valuation for his service.  However, it is not a figure they would be able to reach without a significant number of sales.

According to Tuttosport, those sales include Andre Silva, Samu Castillejo, Patrick Cutrone, Suso and Fabio Borini.  If Milan are going to sign Leao they will need to sell at least two of these players, if not more.  Suso and Silva might bring in enough to sign both Leao and Correa, but selling only Borini and Cutrone won’t, so Milan are going to have to be skilled salesmen over the next month.

Mauro Icardi Transfer Rumours

Mauro Icardi is still training alone in Milan as he waits to find a resolution to his future.  Inter Milan and Antonio Conte have made it clear that Icardi is not a part of their plan under any circumstances, but Icardi has made it clear to Inter that he will not accept a move outside of Italy, and his salary and price tag leaves only one or two options for his sale.

These circumstances have led to Juventus being the club most heavily linked with a move for Icardi. Lately though, rumours of a move to Napoli have been gaining steam and today Gazzetta Dello Sport reported that Napoli have made their striker Arkadiusz Milik available in these talks.  With this along with the latest Nicolas Pepe rumours, Sky Sports having reported that a fee for the winger is agreed with Lille, Napoli are set to make a serious Serie A charge.
