Huddersfield Town have boosted their goalkeeping options ahead of their return to the second tier.

The Terriers were relegated from England’s top-flight after a dismal campaign in which they finished rock bottom with just three wins; however, the Yorkshire side hope to improve upon last season’s goals against record of 76 with the addition of a Polish Under-21 goalkeeper.

20-year-old Grabara spent the second half of last season on loan with Danish top division side AGF Aarhus. The tall Pole made 16 appearances while on loan in Scandinavia.

Grabara: I Want to ‘Prove Myself’

Speaking to the Huddersfield Town website, Grabara commented that he has a point to prove during his loan spell in Yorkshire.

“As a young player you need to develop, so I have a great chance to prove myself that I can become a good goalkeeper.” he said.

“I am happy because not many times things like this happen for young boys.

“I see this as the next stage; it’ll be a tough stage because we all know how the Championship is, it’s all about getting the team settled down and playing.

“I know that everyone is interested in this league sometimes even more than the Premier League when it comes to the Play-Offs.

“I’ve seen it, it’s a tough league, there’s so many teams inside the league and the funny thing is everyone can beat everyone, so you need to be the team that beats everyone.”

Fierce Competition Between the Sticks

Grabara will face stern competition for the number one position with the Terriers.

The on-loan shot-stopper joins three others between the sticks; Ben Hamer, Joel Coleman and Ryan Schofield will all fight for a starting spot.

“First of all, I need to fight for the position to start the first game; that’s the goal,” said the youngster.

“When you go somewhere you respect everyone, but you’re trying to play for yourself, especially as a goalkeeper you want to be number one.

“If you say different, then you’re lying. I want to start the first game and another and another and another. I’m excited because it’s a serious league.”
