Fabian Delph Signs For Everton

Fabian Delph – Manchester City Career

Having signed for Manchester City in the summer of 2015, the 29-year-old has spent much of his career at the Etihad as a bit part player.

However, under Pep Guardiola he has become a versatile player. Delph, a central midfielder by trade, often operated as left-back to cover for Benjamin Mendy. As a result, it saw an increase in appearances during the 2017/18 season.

Last season, Delph made 22 appearances as Manchester City completed the domestic treble. Team-mate Oleksandr Zinchenko was preferred as cover for Benjamin Mendy until the Frenchman returned from injury.

How Will Fabian Delph Fit In At Everton?

Delph becomes Everton manager Marco Silva’s third signing. He arrives at Goodison Park alongside Jonas Lossl and fellow central midfielder Andre Gomes.

Marco Silva currently has six senior option to choose from in the centre of Everton’s midfield. The arrival of Delph pushes that to seven, so it is likely there will be departures from Goodison Park.

Two that could possibly leave are James McCarthy and Muhamed Besic. The former suffered a broken leg midway through the 2017/18 season, and has subsequently struggled to return to first team action. Besic spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he made 37 appearances. Both have been linked with moves away.

Still More To Come At Goodison?

There could still yet be more signings at Everton. According to Antonio Milone of Tuttosport, they are looking to sign Juventus striker Moise Kean. The 18-year-old broke through the ranks at Juventus last season, making 16 appearances, in which he scored six goals.

It appears that Everton are keen to sign a striker, as they have also been linked with a move for Diego Costa.
