Adam Lallana out for a Month

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has picked up a thigh injury on England duty, and now faces a month out on the side-lines for the Reds.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is expected to be side-lined for a month, with a thigh injury sustained in England’s 2-0 win over Lithuania on Sunday. Lallana played the full 90 minutes at Wembley, in which he made the assist for Jamie Vardy’s goal. He also played 66 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Germany at Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion last week.

The 28-year-old has had a brilliant season so far for Liverpool. After being moved deeper into a midfield three for Jürgen Klopp’s side in 2016/17, Lallana has been one of the Red’s players of the season, standing out overall on the Premier League stage too. His work rate has been a huge asset in the middle of the park. His ability to play on the half turn to create space quickly for attacking opportunities has been a key component to how the Anfield side have played this season, as they continue to push for a top four spot. Lallana has played 27 league games for Liverpool this season, missing only two. In that time, the Southampton academy product has bagged seven goals and clocked up seven assists.

At the moment, there’s no confirmed date for the Liverpool midfielder to return. However, there’s a strong likelihood that he could miss as many as five of the remaining nine Premier League games. This means he would miss the Merseyside Derby vs Everton on Saturday, as well as matches against Bournemouth, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace. These are the games that will determine whether Liverpool will make the top four and gain the right to play Champions League football again.

Adam Lallana out for a Month: The Last Word

It is safe to say that the loss of Lallana to a Liverpool side currently lacking in squad depth has the potential to lead to further ramifications for Klopp’s side. There is no doubt he is integral to how they play, and they will now have to try and adapt without him for at least a month.
