The mere presence of AJ Lee is a thorn in the side of Becky Lynch. On Monday night, CM Punk was seen arriving at the Rocket Arena when AJ Lee popped up to greet him. Behind them was a seething Lynch, who pulled her sunglasses down, disgusted by the sight in front of her. Lynch opened up Raw, saying she came out there to make an announcement, but then she saw Lee, and there was honestly only so much disrespect she could take. Lynch didn’t get a chance to say anything else, however, as Lee’s music hit.
AJ Lee skipped down to the ring, and Lynch demanded to know what she was doing on her show. Lee said she wasn’t there for Lynch. She was just there to support her girl, Maxxine Dupri, in her match tonight. Lee joked that she would just sit in the back for the rest of the night before Lynch called her out on her fake cutesy behavior. Lynch said Lee was like a little chihuahua, barking, yapping, and ruining her life. Lee said that was a little dramatic as she hadn’t done anything to Lynch personally except, well, beat her at Wrestlepalooza…and War Games…and cost her the title. Lee acknowledged that when she said it out loud, she realized that maybe Lynch had a point. But Lynch had her title back, so it was water under the bridge.

Lynch laughed crazily as she said there was no water and no bridge. She demanded to know what it was going to take to make Lee go away once and for all before she got an idea. Lynch suggested Lee wanted a match at Elimination Chamber in her home of Chicago, to which she promised she’d pummel her in front of her friends and family. Lee was flattered that Lynch wanted to face her, but said she hadn’t had a singles match in over a decade. So it was going to take something really special, like, say, Lynch’s title. Lee said if she were to beat Lynch, who claims to be the best, it would make her better than the best and the number one contender for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Lynch refused, as Lee had done nothing in her opinion to earn the match. Lee said no title, no match, so Lynch relented before telling Lee that if she thought she had been held down before, she had no idea what she’s in for.
Lee’s last singles match took place in March 2015 as she faced Nikki Bella on Raw. Her last title reign ended in November 2014. Lee and Lynch’s rivalry started with their husbands, but it has become increasingly personal between the two. While a WrestleMania showdown for the two would have been fitting, the match happening in Lee’s hometown suggests WWE may pull the trigger on Lee’s first Women’s Intercontinental Championship reign.
