WWE SmackDown Preview (7/18/25) – John Cena & Cody Rhodes Finally Meet Again

After last weekend’s Premium Live Event weekend extravaganza, the Blue brand is back in business, as the WWE Universe deals with the fallout from not only WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event but also WWE Evolution. We doubt that any of the WWE Superstars would have a minute to breathe, as we’re marching towards the “Biggest Party of the Summer,” SummerSlam. With all that in mind, we give you a full WWE SmackDown preview for July 18th, 2025.

One More Time For Old Time’s Sake

It’s been a while, some may say it’s been too long since Cody Rhodes and John Cena were in a WWE ring one-on-one. The last time these two fought mano a mano, John Cena notched his record-setting 17th world title win over “The American Nightmare” in the “Grandest Stage of Them All” WrestleMania 41.

Of course, even if everyone wanted to see a rematch immediately, Rhodes will always take the toughest road to prove to everyone why he deserves another shot at the “Never Seen 17,” and that’s exactly what he did. At WWE Night of Champions, Cody Rhodes beat his mentor and friend Randy Orton to become King of the Ring, as well as guaranteeing an Undisputed WWE Title Match at SummerSlam.

Not only that, Rhodes would pick up the victory at Money in the Bank in a star-studded tag team match, pinning Cena himself. Rhodes has gotten his mojo back, also, Cena’s number.

This Friday night, these two meet face-to-face for a contract signing for their match at SummerSlam, and we all know no man will go quietly.

What do these men have to say to each other? We’ll find out this Friday night, only on the USA Network and Netflix!
