#AndNEW: Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee Win AEW World Tag Team Championship

Swerve Strickland Keith Lee AEW World Tag Team Champions

In the main event of AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest, Week One, the AEW World Tag Team Championship was contested. The titleholders, The Young Bucks, defended the gold against Powerhouse Hobbs and FTW Champion Ricky Starks of Team Taz, in addition to Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee, the latter collectively known as Swerve In Our Glory. This was nothing short of a competitive main event, featuring three tandems that were at the top of their game. The match concluded with a title change, as Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee emerged victorious, capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championship for the first time in their careers.

Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee Win AEW Tag Team Titles

What to Know Following AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest, Week One Main Event

For the first time, following the main event of AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest, Week One, the AEW World Tag Team Champions lost the belts in their first defense. The Young Bucks captured the AEW tag team titles for the second time this past June at the Road Rager edition of Dynamite. In their first defense, they lost, ending their second reign at 28 days.

Meanwhile, their AEW World Tag Team Championship win marks the first time that either Swerve Strickland or Keith Lee have held gold in All Elite Wrestling. Lee made his debut for the company this past February, with Strickland making his own debut the month after. Lee and Strickland began teaming in April, quickly racking up wins against such tandems as Chaos Project and The Butcher and the Blade. Granted, there have been moments of miscommunication between Lee and Strickland, which almost cost them victories. However, now that they are the new tag team titleholders, expect said moments of miscommunication to become fewer and further between.
