TNA Thursday Night iMPACT Review (7/2/26) – Hard Thoughts on the Future

No Dumber without Dumb

TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth joined Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary. KC Navarro did the perfect match, with the Blessing in Disguise to secure the pinfall. After the match, Nic Nemeth forced KC Navarro to shake Ryan Nemeth’s hand and attacked Navarro from behind with Danger Zone.

The System strikes again

Leon Slater told Gia Miller he wanted to teach Eddie Edwards a lesson tonight. That’s not exactly what happened. Before the match began, Alisha Edwards interrupted Leon Slater’s entrance and demanded the audience cheer for Eddie Edwards. As expected, the match was good, but Mr. & Mrs. Edwards got the referee’s attention.

Eddie shoved a boot into Slater against the ropes, so Alisha Edwards got involved. She did it again when Slater was climbing to the top rope. After Alisha, Cedric Alexander slid into the ring, and Leon Slater dropped him. While Slater was distracted, Edwards rolled him up and secured the pinfall. After the match, Cedric Alexander attacked Leon Slater, and Ricky Sosa came to help Slater. They dumped The System to the outside and shook hands.

The Best of the Rest

Thursday Night iMPACT Review – The Nygma’s Last Word(s)

The future of TNA, that’s what this episode was about. Calling Leon Slater and Ricky Sosa the company’s future stars is paradoxical. When Leon Slater has proven that he is the future of the sport, Ricky Sosa has EVERYTHING to prove. The Nemeth bros on top of the mountain are despicable. If the future’s roots are in the past, as we saw this week, Nygma is not sure it will be bright.

Action-wise, I have nothing to say as it was a great show, with a magic Rich Swann and Knockouts on fire. I could say a lot about the direction TNA Wrestling is taking. I will miss Mike Santana dearly, but Mustafa Ali and Leon Slater are meant to become World Champions one day. The Tag Team division remains weak. As my late Dad said, “I don’t know where we go, but we go.” Prove me wrong, TNA, please.

That’s all for the TNA Thursday Night iMPACT review of the week. If you want a dishonestly honest Nygma point of view, you’ll always find it here. In the 1990s, U2 was asking us to “watch more TV.” Nygma says: Watch more TNA. I’ll come back to you later today with the July 2 taping spoilers. Till next week, may the Nygma be with you.
