SiriusXM has announced a brand new partnership with the WWE that will bring WWE Radio to SiriusXM.
The brand new WWE Radio channel will replace the Pro Wrestling Nation channel on Sirius on Monday, July 27th. Fans will be able to listen to WWE Radio on Sirius channel 156, as well as on the SiriusXM app.
WWE Executive Vice President Alex Varga said, “The WWE Universe is always looking for new ways to engage with WWE, and our partnership with SiriusXM will deliver exclusive access, original programming and live event coverage that brings fans closer to the action wherever they are.”
WWE PLEs and Weekly Shows to Air on WWE Radio
Per the press release, it was announced that WWE will provide play-by-play commentary for its programming.
There will be weekly audio-only broadcasts of WWE Monday Night Raw, WWE NXT, and WWE Friday Night SmackDown on the WWE Radio channel.
It was also announced that WWE Premium Live Events will air on WWE Radio in an audio-only format, beginning with SummerSlam next weekend, and WWE PLES, such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series, will air in the near future.
The audio-only simulcast of WWE SummerSlam will be called by WWE NXT’s Vic Joseph and Booker T.
It is unknown at this time if Vic Joseph and Booker T will also be calling their radio simulcasts of WWE Monday Night Raw and WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
How will this affect Pro Wrestling Nation content?
Per SiriusXM, many of the shows that are on the Pro Wrestling Nation channel will remain.
Shows such as Busted Open Radio, Notsam Wrestling Live with Sam Roberts, Cheap Heat Live with Peter Rosenberg, The Heat Beat with Natalya, and Off the Ropes with Raj Dhesi, Mark Henry, and Tommy Dreamer are expected to remain part of the brand-new WWE Radio channel.
Busted Open Radio, Notsam Wrestling Live, and Cheap Heat Live will also have a big presence leading up to the upcoming WWE SummerSlam event, as each show will be airing live at the Minneapolis Convention Center, where they will be discussing the storylines and being involved in the festivities for the SummerSlam event.
WWE Podcasts to Air on WWE Radio
It was also announced that WWE Radio will be airing many of the podcasts that are co-produced as part of their partnership with Fanatics.
“What Do You Want to Talk About?” with Cody Rhodes, “Six Feet Under” with The Undertaker, “What’s Your Story” with Stephanie McMahon, and “WWE Now, Raw Recap” with Sam Roberts and Megan Morant will all air on the WWE Radio channel.
These podcasts will air daily on WWE Radio at 4 pm Eastern Time.

WWE’s Past Attempts at Moving Into Radio
This marks the return of WWE to radio since 2000 and their fourth attempt at broadcasting in this medium.
WWE’s first foray into having WWE on the radio took place in the early 1990s, when they would establish the Radio WWF syndicated radio network in 1993.
Much like WWE Radio, Radio WWF would also provide alternate broadcasts of WWE Pay Per View events, such as the 1993 Survivor Series event.
This would be short-lived, as the promotion would cease production of Radio WWF in 1994. However, the WWF would bring back Radio WWF and would broadcast the syndication network from the late 1990s to 2000 as part of the syndication deal with Armed Forces Network.
Many of the radio broadcasts have been deemed lost media, but some portions of older Radio WWF broadcasts have been found.
The promotion’s third attempt at radio would happen around 15 years ago, when WWE would experiment with the radio transmitters at big stadiums to broadcast commentary to fans in attendance at the event, with WrestleMania 28 being one of the events where fans would be able to do so through a smaller radio that would be provided. This would also be short-lived.
WWE seems to be a lot more confident this time around in making a fourth attempt at radio, especially with a big partner backing them in the SiriusXM company, and seems to want to make a big splash with how big they are going with their WWE Radio content.
