Blackheart Lio Rush in AEW

Why Blackheart Lio Rush is Popular in AEW

The recent persona shift of Blackheart Lio Rush in AEW and the indie scene is something to witness to be believed. The Maryland-born wrestler’s piercing white or red pupils, the black goop cascading down his twisted grin, and his manic mannerisms have set him apart from his contemporaries.

There’s a clear spook factor going on with him, one that works shockingly well in tandem with his in-ring style. He’s nothing like what is going on in wrestling; instead, he exists as an island unto himself.

CRU started mildly well in AEW before soon becoming more prominent in ROH (Ring of Honor). There, they’d add a third member to CRU, in the form of Lacey Lane (formerly Kayden Carter of WWE).

And then, silence. The trio didn’t get to amount to much, and it’s safe to say it lasted within its shelf life.

In March, Rush resurfaced in ROH, AEW, and the independent scene, but something was different. Something was off…
