Throughout the years, world championships have been defended in several different gimmick matches in WWE. However, reigning WWE World Champions have found varying degrees of success in Elimination Chamber matches. 44% of Elimination Chamber matches have been for the WWE and World Heavyweight Championship. However, 50% of those matches have seen a new WWE or World Heavyweight Champion crowned.

Capturing a world championship is special, especially inside the Elimination Chamber. Since 2008, the Elimination Chamber match has been a major pitstop on the road to WrestleMania. Title changes happening before WrestleMania are always an exciting prospect, as the trajectory on the road to WrestleMania changes instantly. Some of the title changes that happened inside the Chamber were obvious, whereas others were a welcome surprise.
8. John Cena Wins the WWE Championship (Elimination Chamber 2010)
John Cena was the sixth and final entrant in the Elimination Chamber match for Sheamus’ WWE Championship in 2010. Sheamus defended the title against Cena, Triple H, Kofi Kingston, and Legacy’s Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase. However, a new WWE Champion was guaranteed as the Game eliminated the Celtic Warrior from the match.
Several matches for WrestleMania 26 were set up during this Chamber, but this Chamber match could’ve been better. Nevertheless, Cena and Triple H were the final two competitors, and Cena forced the Game to submit to the STF to become an eight-time WWE World Champion. Despite the win, Cena failed to leave St. Louis, Missouri, with the WWE Championship as Batista dethroned him for the title in an impromptu match.
7. Brock Lesnar Wins the WWE Championship (Elimination Chamber 2022)
If you like a destructive performance in Elimination Chamber matches, then Brock Lesnar’s outing at Elimination Chamber 2022 for Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship was one to remember. The Almighty was legitimately injured coming into his WWE Title defense, and he failed to retain the WWE Championship after he was written out of the match after Seth Rollins buckle-bombed Theory into his pod.

The Beast Incarnate tore through the field with ease. He eliminated Seth Rollins, Riddle, and AJ Styles back-to-back. Lesnar and Theory were the final two participants, and there was little doubt in who was going to come out on top. Lesnar executed the F-5 on Theory off the top of the pod, and pinned him to win his 10th WWE World Championship.
