WWE NXT Preview (1/13/25) – What’s Next After New Year‘s Evil?

Last week, on NXT’s New Years Evil, the year started with a bang. Wrestlers have stepped up and will continue to do so to make the new year their year. It is time for them to create their opportunities and take advantage of them; which many already have.

New Years Evil left us with a new Women’s North American Champion in Izzi Dame and a vacant NXT Championship. Who will take the opportunity in front of them with a vacant championship?

With everything going on, here is what you can expect to see on the January 13th edition of WWE NXT.

Who will be the Next Men’s NXT Champion?

Last week at the end of New Years Evil, the audience was left in shock. NXT Champion Oba Femi successfully defended the championship against TNA’s Leon Slater, but at the end of the match Femi left his championship in the ring.

When Femi left the championship in the ring he also left the NXT audience with numerous questions. Why did he decide to relinquish the championship? What does this mean for Oba Femi? And what does this mean for the rest of NXT? There is currently no Men’s NXT Champion, how will they decide who will be the next champion? Who will step up to the opportunity?

This coming Tuesday, hopefully some of our questions will be answered considering the importance of the championship on the show. Who would you like to see become the next Men’s NXT Champion in this new era?

No Disqualification Match or Handicap Match?

Joe Hendry has had enough of Dark State. They interrupted his concert and incited a brawl, now Hendry wants his payback. He doesn’t want just anyone of Dark State, he wants the leader, Dion Lennox. He wants Lennox in a No Disqualification Match.

But the general manager, Ava, pointed out what I’m sure we all thought of; that a No Disqualification Match against one member of Dark State will really turn into a handicap match against all of them.

Hendry proposed that he could find two people to stand by his side and occupy the rest of Dark State so he could have the match, and Ava agreed. We later saw Hendry approach OTM backstage and ask them to help him out. They had no interest at first, but Hendry made a point that it may help them get to the NXT Tag Team Championships.

Do you think OTM will be by the side of Joe Hendry next week? Will Joe Hendry be able to get his revenge on Dion Lennox in the No Disqualification Match? Tune in this week on NXT to find out who will come out victorious.
