WWE Speed: Who Advanced from the Men’s Tournament Semi-Finals?

This week’s episode of WWE NXT saw a new WWE Speed Men’s tournament get underway. NXT General Manager Ava managed to squeeze two intriguing semi-final bouts into a packed schedule, with the winners advancing to the tournament final next week.

The tournament winner will be the first contender to challenge the new Men’s WWE Speed Champion, Jasper Troy. The Texan native Black Hole Slammed his way to the title last month, defeating Sean Legacy and Axiom before beating El Grande Americano in the championship match.

The Semi-Finals

The first semi-final pitted Eli Knight, making his NXT debut, against Tavion Heights. Knight has been cutting his teeth on the indie circuit, impressing in many matches for Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling. Booker sang the praises of Knight ahead of the bout, highlighting his unique arsenal of aerial moves.

Eli Knight was full of energy right out of the gate, catching Heights off guard. Heading into the final minute, the high flyer looked good for an upset over NXT’s resident Olympian. However, Heights turned the tables with a powerful Belly-to-Belly Suplex to get the pin with just under a minute left on the clock.

The second semi-final featured two NXT veterans. Academia met Arrogance as Andre Chase and Lexis King duked it out for a spot in the final. Chase’s in-ring acumen kept him a few steps ahead of King in the early minutes.

As the match entered its final 30 seconds, it seemed as if King would be forced to submit. However, the former Heritage Cup Champion managed to wriggle free from Chase’s Octopus Hold. In a matter of moments, King delivered the Coronation to book a date with Heights next week.
