WWE SmackDown Results (8/1/25):

  • Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena begins WWE SmackDown in a big way, as he faces off against his challenger Cody Rhodes one last time before their Street Fight title match on the second night of WWE SummerSlam. John Cena would not let Cody Rhodes speak, and for good reason. Cena had a change of heart, seemingly coming back to the WWE Universe as his authentic self. Rhodes would cheer to that, enjoying a couple of cans of beer with Cena, before leaving the ring and allowing John to bask in the adulation of the WWE Universe.
  • Women’s United States Champion Giulia kicks off the action as she makes her first title defense against former champion Zelina Vega. The opener between these two women set the bar high for tonight, engaging in a physical and tense affair. It was 50/50 all the way. However, Giulia would be too much for Vega. “The Beautiful Madness” would connect with the Northern Lights Bomb, keeping the title intact and notching her first successful title defense.
  • Next up, AAA World Tag Team Champions Los Garza issue an open challenge for the gold. Los Garza would have a classic Lucha Libre-style match with their AAA contemporaries. However, Angel and Berto will not let the AAA World Tag Title gold go that easily, picking up the pinfall victory.
  • Damian Priest and Aleister Black go at it in a very personal Grudge Match. As most expected, they had quite a brawl, in and out of the ring. Priest had Black against the wall, and that’s when Aleister decided that enough was enough, throwing a chair into the face of the former World Heavyweight Champion, leading to a disqualification. Aleister Black would not stop at that, assaulting Priest with the chair and slamming his head into the steel steps. Black put the exclamation point on this whole situation by virtually taking Priest’s head off with a Black Mass.
  • Talla Tonga, accompanied by United States Champion Solo Sikoa, makes his way to the ring to fight Jimmy Uso. It was an impressive debut for the big Tongan, dominating most of the match. Jimmy Uso would have a glimmer of hope, capitalizing on the rookie errors of Talla. However, Sikoa would get involved, causing a distraction. Uso would Superkick him, then deliver one to Tonga. Jimmy made his way up, looking for a Uso Splash, before getting caught by the throat, and eating a Chokeslam from Talla Tonga. Talla wins his debut match. Post-bout, Sikoa and the MFTs would beat down Uso, and try to have the Steel Cage hanging about the ring lowered. Jacob Fatu would prevent that from happening, hitting the ring for the save. Sikoa and Talla would escape, leaving JC Mateo and Tonga Loa to get their butts handed to them by Fatu, delivering devastating Might Moonsaults on both men.
  • To end the night, Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre would run their mouths, saying that Jelly Roll is an outsider and not a wrestler, and they’ll teach him that he’s a “Country Star,” and not a “Superstar.” McIntyre would follow up by saying that whatever happens to Jelly Roll tomorrow night on WWE SummerSlam, will be on him. Jelly Roll and Randy Orton would get into it with them and beat the loudmouths down, finishing the WWE SummerSlam 2025 “go-home” show triumphant in the ring.
