TNA iMPACT! After The Bell (5/8/25): Requiem For The Mayhem

Last night, TNA iMPACT! was definitely one not to miss. Look at Steve Maclin’s bloody face. This is the last time you will see so much blood at TNA Wrestling events. As revealed after recent tapings, the Dog Collar match marks the end of an era. There will still be blood, but no more “excessive blood.”

What Nygma has always loved about TNA Wrestling is the “allowed” violence, from cruel matches like Barbed Wire Massacre, Monsters Ball, or Full Metal Mayhem. Some people hate that, and I completely understand, but I love it when the limits are pushed very far.

Let’s come back to the episode. If you carefully read my preview of TNA iMPACT!, you will soon know if Nygma’s crystal ball was right or wrong. Sometimes, it can’t make miracles. At least, it tries.

TNA iMPACT! Results (05/08/25)

  • Lei Ying Lee defeated Rosemary
  • The Aztec Warriors (Laredo & Octagon Jr.) defeated The Great Hands (Jason Hotch & John Skyler) (w/Tasha Steelz)
  • Mustafa Ali (w/Jason Hotch, John Skyler & Tasha Steelz) defeated Trey Miguel
  • Victoria Crawford defeated Brittnie Brooks
  • TNA International Title – Dog Collar Match: Steve Maclin (c) defeated Eric Young

Biting Hard

The Hardys addressed the iMPACT! Zone. Matt apologized to the TNA faithful for letting them down but promised that The Hardys would climb back to the top. As I was expecting, Nic and Ryan Nemeth interrupted and offered The Hardys a rematch at Under Siege, knowing that Jeff is unable to compete in Canada.

Director of Authority Santino Marella made 2 Milan Miracles. Next week, Nic Nemeth will go one-on-one with Jeff Hardy. And at Under Siege, the Nemeths will defend the TNA World Tag Team Titles against Matt Hardy and a partner of his choosing. Nygma has two, words for you: Leon Slater.

A Dog Collar Match to end the Eric Young-Steve Maclin war, there could be only one survivor. The chain was a bit long, but enough to harm, as it didn’t take long before Maclin was busted open. Obviously, Judas Icarus and Travis Williams assaulted Steve Maclin on the outside, but Maclin was cleverer and used the chain to stop them. The match was Violent by Design, bloody, and scary, but it had to. Not only did Steve Maclin retain the title, but he is free of The Northern Armory.

Starting Something

NXT’s Robert Stone criticized the card that Director of Authority Santino Marella had put together for tonight’s show. Later, he found an ally in Tessa Blanchard to criticize Marella and the official liaison between TNA and NXT, Arianna Grace. Nygma says: only one man can do some Milan Miracles…

Mike Santana, Sami Callihan, and John Goblikon (the green thing) got into a heated war of words with KC Navarro and AJ Francis. Take a look at Santana’s eyes when crossing Trick Williams, there’s some magic in the air…

The Aztec Warriors defeated The Great Hands. After the match, Mustafa Ali blindsided the Aztec Warriors, but The Rascalz made the save. A few minutes later, Trey Miguel was robbed of the win by Ali’s goons, who interfered in the match. If you read my preview, you know now that Dirty Ali was born after Rebellion, and he seemed to have found new targets. Do you smell the smoke, like I do?

Brawling For Honor

NXT’s Trick Williams kicked off the episode to embarrass Joe Hendry. Hendry fought through security before charging at Trick in the ring. In the end, Hendry made a statement by delivering a Standing Ovation to a member of security. Next stop, NXT this Tuesday for the contract signing.

TNA’s new Deputy Director of Authority, Victoria Crawford, defeated Brittnie Brooks. Mr. Robert Stone was at the announcers’ table. After the match, Masha Slamovich brawled with Crawford before being blindsided by Tessa Blanchard. Santino Marella announced that, next week, Victoria Crawford and Tessa Blanchard will team up against Masha Slamovich and a partner of her choosing. Robert Stone overruled his decision and picked Masha’s opponent himself, NXT’s Nikkita Lyons.

The Best of The Rest

  • Indi Hartwell documented how she grew up as a passionate fan of TNA Wrestling – and now, she’s here to make her mark in the Knockouts division. She will make her TNA iMPACT! debut next week.
  • The Elegance brand began Maggie Lee’s big makeover. I fear the result…
  • Léi Ying Lee defeated Rosemary because Xia Brookside, who was at the commentary table, took the brass knuckles Rosemary was about to use.

The Nygma’s Last Word(s)

Steve Maclin is a hero. I said it in my Rebellion review, and I could say it again and again. Hats off to Eric Young, too. This bloody Dog Collar match was the perfect ending for a feud like no other.

That was not the easiest episode to write about. Some good things are coming, others are enough to puzzle and make us ask where we are going. As long as I’ve been writing about TNA Wrestling, it’s always been like that, Nygma’s puzzled land. Till next week, may the Nygma be with you.

TNA Under Siege Card

  • If Cody Deaner wins, his contract is renewed – Eddie Edwards vs. Cody Deaner
  • TNA Knockouts World Title Match: Masha Slamovich (c) vs. Victoria Crawford
  • TNA World Tag Team Title Match: The Nemeths (Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth) (c) vs. ??? & Matt Hardy
    Tag Team Match
  • Frankie Kazarian & NXT’s Trick Williams vs. Elijah & TNA World Champion Joe Hendry
