TNA Rebellion After The Bell (4/27/2025) - A Heroes' Journey

TNA Rebellion After The Bell (4/27/2025) – A Heroes’ Journey

TNA Rebellion was the show you couldn’t miss. Since the WWE/TNA partnership, every TNA PPV has become a moment to be surprised, excited, and puzzled.

In case you don’t know it yet, TNA Wrestling is on fire, and so was this Rebellion event. With all the recent announcements made, we could only think it would be epic – and it was.

If you carefully read my preview, you will soon know if Nygma’s crystal ball was right or wrong, and if that night was as rebellious as expected.

The Nygma’s View

The Winners

I will let the Countdown matches be where they are, on the TNA YouTube channel, because they didn’t get me hooked. NXT’s Fatal Influence won because Xia Brookside refused the brass knuckles Rosemary was giving her. Even if Rosemary did one hell of a match, we (I mean, she) are far from done with Xia Brookside.

Shane Haste was not the obvious choice for The Walk With Elijah Open Challenge. We could have expected anyone from the TNA or NXT locker room. It turned out to be an NJPW wrestler, representing TMDK.

It was not Haste’s debut with the company, as he represented NJPW in a series of matches in TNA Wrestling back in 2023. Is he going to come back after that? Excellent question.

Indi Hartwell announced she signed with TNA Wrestling. The Nemeths stole the Tag Team Championship belts from The Hardys when they came to the Compound last Thursday. It was probably a premonition as they stole the victory and became the new champions.

Knockouts World Tag Team Champions Ash & Heather By Elegance retained the titles, because Maggie Lee crossed the line of Elegance. I was saying, let them eat cake. I have never said, send me a pie in the face!

The Magic Makers

We knew Sean Waltman would be on The Rascalz and Ace Austin’s side, and that would help them not be robbed again by The System. During the Countdown, we learnt JDC could not be there, due to travel issues. Cody Deaner offered his help to The System, but Moose decided to team up with Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards (kudos to Moose, who wrestled two matches in the matter of an hour).

If it didn’t take long before Alisha Edwards made her presence felt at ringside, Sean Waltman took her out with the X-Factor. In the end, Wentz pinned the X-Division Champion with a UFO Cutter to win. I just have 2 words for you, S*CK IT!

I mean, Waltman perfectly fits the Rascalz spirit. He gave the guys the fire they needed to win. Not only did Wentz gain a serious spot for the X-Division Championship, but the trio definitely got back on the line for a TNA World Tag Team Championship match. Keep watching.

Masha Slamovich awoke the Johnny Rodz in her to defeat Tessa Blanchard. It was a very good match, showing we have a Knockouts Champion with a heart and a passion no one can break.

Joe Hendry had 3 enemies last night, two he perfectly knew about, one he could have seen coming. This TNA World Championship match was good, with nice spots. Hendry hit John Cena’s AA on Frankie Kazarian through a table.

Ethan Page unloaded a cutter on Hendry on the TNA World Title belt, but it was not enough. Hendry retained. Remember, I said 3 enemies.

As he was celebrating, Joe Hendry was attacked by Trick Williams, who crossed the line to blindside him. He laid out Hendry with the Trick Shot, standing tall over the Champion. As long as he has the belt around his waist, wherever he appears, Joe Hendry will be a prey.

You can say Nygma, because I believe in what I say.

The Heroes

Not one man involved in the Ultimate-X match didn’t shine. Moose, Matt Cardona, Leon Slater, El Hijo del Vikingo, KC Navarro, and Sidney Akeem just nailed it. We saw a high-flying, Lucha-Libre style extravaganza. Even Alisha Edwards tried to scale the cables because Moose fears heights.

In the end, Moose retained the title, but the big winners of this match are the fans. It was mind-blowing. Well, it was TNA.

Eric Young tried to play more mind games in the Countdown, trying to bring the soldier spirit in Maclin back. Before the International Championship match, we found Maclin quiet and confident. Young underestimated his opponent and paid the heavy price for it, as Maclin retained.

The Northern Armory got involved before, during, and after the match. Judas Icarus and Travis Williams were ejected by the referee, but they came back.

https://twitter.com/ThisIsTNA/status/1916637738733867443

In the end, Steve Maclin behaved like the soldier he was. He stood tall. Maclin defended the title with brio. He didn’t sell his soul to Young and the Northern Armory.

For sure, the war between Maclin, Young, and his goons is far from over. Steve Maclin promised after the match to stack their bodies one by one. Because of the steel chain used, a Full Metal Mayhem between Young and Maclin would be welcomed.

Mike Santana has earned my respect in this feud against Ali. Yesterday night, in front of his little girl, he showed that every person who has been dealing with addictions deserves redemption. Fighting demons is a daily task.

With a Falls Count Anywhere match, the action spilled everywhere. Ali ate the steel ring steps and 2 chairs. Santana hit a Moonsault on Ali in the middle of the crowd.

Of course, John Skyler, Jason Hotch, and Tasha Steelz got involved. Avery wise Santana handcuffed Skyler and Hotch to the ropes and sent Steelz into a table. Santana also suplexed Ali off the steps through a table.

Ali replied with a barbed-wire baseball into the skull of Santana. Well, a must-watch. Santana is a real hero, he won not only the match but Nygma’s eternal gratitude.

The Nygma’s Last Word(s)

As David Bowie sang, “We can be heroes, just for one day.” At Rebellion, heroes were everywhere, but not always for the same reason. People like Sean Waltman or Johnny Rodz helped Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, Ace Austin, and Masha Slamovich find their way back to their souls. Then, Steve Maclin, Mike Santana, and every Ultimate-X participant inspired me to be the best, to do my best, to keep being Nygma.

Rebellion was a true must-watch PPV, but we already have to move on. There’s a new chapter to write in TNA Wrestling’s history book.

May the Nygma be with you.
