5STAR GP 2022 Predictions

The Favorites

Giulia

There really is only one clear favorite for this year’s tournament and that is Giulia. Ever since she walked into Stardom it has been a case of when not if, she wins the World of Stardom Championship. As we approach the 3-year mark of her stint with Stardom it would appear that it’s time for Giulia to win the big one.

It’s been over a year since Giulia held a singles title and in that time she’s managed to make even more enemies, both in Stardom and outside of Stardom. A stint as world champ would put her back on top and allow her to have plenty of high-profile grudge matches on PPV.

Dark Horses

Suzu Suzuki

It’s not very likely that Stardom lets an outsider win their biggest tournament of the year but an exception can, and probably should, be made for Suzu Suzuki. The former ICExInfinity Champion is not even 20 years old and is already one of the best wrestlers in all of Joshi.

If Suzu Suzuki vs Syuri isn’t a worthy main event of Stardom’s biggest show of the year then we don’t know what is.

Tam Nakano

Until a few weeks ago Nakano was neck-and-neck with Giulia as our favorite to win this year’s GP. What holds Nakano back is the fact that she challenged Syuri to a world title match for Stardom’s MidSummer Champion in Nagoya event and the two will face off in the GP. It is not impossible, but unlikely, that Stardom has the two wrestle three times in the space of five months.

Utami Hayashishita

Never rule out the franchise player. Hayashishita has already got one 5STAR GP win under her belt and she could easily add another. While Hayashishita and Syuri will renew their rivalry in the GP it is possible that Stardom wants the two to run it back at Sumo Hall this December.
