The National Wrestling Alliance recently held its collaborative event with Tried-N-True Pro Wrestling, NWA PowerrrTrip. In the main event, Trevor Murdoch defended the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Matt Cardona. Since making his debut at Hard Times 2, Cardona has set his sights on “The Ten Pounds of Gold,” all the while proclaiming that he wanted to inject life into a company he saw as “boring” and “dated.” Cardona challenged Murdoch for the gold, and following Radio Silence, the “Alwayz Ready” star made the pinfall. One three-count later and Matt Cardona stood victorious with the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in his possession.

What to Know Following Championship Victory

Following his NWA Worlds Heavyweight title victory, Matt Cardona was joined by real-life wife Chelsea Green, VSK, and Mike Knox. The four celebrated in the ring until they were interrupted by Nick Aldis. “The National Treasure” challenged Cardona, utilizing the rematch clause that he didn’t use against Murdoch when he was the champion. Expect to see Aldis, a former 2x NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion in his own right, challenge Cardona at the next major event held by the National Wrestling Alliance.

With this victory, Cardona now holds 4 titles across 3 promotions. This past October, at Absolute Intense Wrestling, Cardona captured both the AIW Intense and AIW Absolute titles. Earlier this year, Cardona shocked IMPACT Wrestling viewers when he defeated Jordynne Grace for the company’s Digital Media Championship. It’s also worth noting Cardona’s Internet Championship, though the official nature of this title is suspect.
