Mercedes Martinez has won the Knockouts Knockdown tournament. She earned a future title shot for the IMPACT Knockouts Championship.

Mercedes Martinez Earns Title Shot at Knockouts Knockdown

It was a hard-fought tournament for Martinez. She defeated three other Knockouts in the tournament tonight. She defeated Brandi Lauren in the first round, Rachael Ellering in the semi-finals, and Tasha Steelz in the finals to win the Knockouts Knockdown tournament. Martinez will have her eyes set on Bound for Glory in two weeks. Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo will take on Mickie James for the title. The winner of that match will have a competitor lined up in Martinez.

If Martinez is able to defeat the Knockouts Champion, it will be her first reign with the title. Martinez has held titles in Shimmer, SHINE, and many other promotions. She worked with NXT earlier this year before returning to the independent scene. This is the first IMPACT show that she has worked on.

It was an eventful night at Knockouts Knockdown as we saw Masha Slamovich take on Deonna Purrazzo in a hard-hitting match. A Monster’s Ball Match also took place in honor of Shannon “Daffney” Spruill. IMPACT now turns their attention to October 23 as the promotion will present Bound For Glory live on pay-per-view. Martinez will be watching that match closely to scout her future opponent.
