#AndNEW: Two Title Changes at DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2021

DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2021

In the main event of DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2021, Jun Akiyama attempted to defend his title against Konosuke Takeshita. This was a rematch of their D-Ou Grand Prix finals match in which Akiyama came out on top. However, this time around, Takeshita would not be denied as he stood tall in the middle of Kawasaki Stadium with the KO-D Openweight title around his waist. This makes him a double champion due to him also holding the KO-D Tag Team titles alongside Shunma Katsumata in the 37KAMINA.

The celebration would not last long, though. Chris Brookes, who was victorious earlier in the night, would be out quickly to be the first person to challenge the new champiom. This was a callback to two matches, in which he fought Konosuke Takeshita for the KO-D Openweight title and lost, and the inaugural DDT Universal title match in which Brookes won. The title defense was accepted and a match was scheduled for Sept 26.

In 2021, Takeshita has won two tournaments and the accompanying title shots. This year, it seems like the sky is the limit for the double champion as he marches onward.

The good news for the 37KAMINA couldn’t come soon enough. It came hot off the heels of Yuki Ueno‘s reign with the DDT Universal Championship coming to a stop at DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2021. The belt came back to the second champion, DAMNATION‘s Daisuke Sasaki; this marks the other title change of the show. Sasaki is the fifth person to hold the title and the second ever person to hold the belt twice, with the first being Chris Brookes. As of right now, there are no challengers for Sasaki’s belt. Given that there were people constantly lining up to face not just him, but Ueno things could change very quickly. Expect people to line up for a shot at the DDT Universal title.
