#AndNEW: RKBro Wins Raw Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam 2021

RKBro SummerSlam Raw Tag Team Championship

SummerSlam 2021 began with the Raw Tag Team Championship match. The reigning champions, AJ Styles and Omos, defended the red belts against Riddle and Randy Orton, collectively known as RKBro. For weeks beforehand, Riddle had been attempting to reforge his partnership with Orton, as the latter had been out of action due to undisclosed circumstances. The week before SummerSlam, Orton acknowledged Riddle as a partner, allowing them to reform their team. This led RKBro to the opening match of SummerSlam, which saw them capture the Raw Tag Team Championship following an RKO from Orton onto Styles.

With this victory, Riddle has won his first Raw Tag Team title. He is no stranger to tag team gold in WWE, however; in early 2020, he captured the NXT Tag Team Championship alongside Pete Dunne. In terms of singles action, Riddle is a former United States Championship. Meanwhile, SummerSlam sees “The Viper” of RKBro win his third tag team title in WWE. Randy Orton previously won the WWE Tag Team Championship back in 2006 alongside Edge; together, they were known as Rated RKO. One decade later, Orton captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championship as a member of The Wyatt Family.

With this victory, one must wonder what challenge awaits RKO coming out of SummerSlam. It’s fair to assume that AJ Styles and Omos will be looking to reclaim their gold. However, there are other tag teams that will be looking to claim the red titles as their own. Tune into Monday Night Raw, every week at 8 PM EST, to learn more.
