Preview: AEW Dynamite (8/11/21) – The 5 Labours of Jericho: Chapter 4

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) finds itself in the “Steel City” for the first of two nights in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Last week’s Homecoming was a thrilling ride from start to finish. We had an Elite Squad shatter the dreams of one “Hangman” Adam Page and his band of allies – as well as the destruction of “The Prince of Pro Wrestling”, Cody Rhodes. Every show from here on out is must-see because you never truly know what’s gonna happen. On this week’s AEW Dynamite, tag team gold is up for grabs and “Le Champion” finds himself one step closer to exacting his revenge in this penultimate labor in the Labors of Jericho series.

That’s not all as AEW will put on a show you’re not going to want to miss; with more exciting bouts and unexpected confrontations you have got to see to believe. Let’s get this show on the road. After all, “it’s Wednesday night, and you know what that means!” Time for some Wednesday night Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

Full Match Card:

  • Nyla Rose (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. Kris Statlander (w/Orange Cassidy)
  • Trios Match: Wheeler Yuta, Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor vs. Matt Hardy & Private Party
  • Trios Match: Young Bucks & Kenny Omega vs Sydal Bros. & Dante Martin
  • Darby Allin vs Daniel Garcia
  • The 5 Labours Of Jericho: Chapter 4: Chris Jericho vs. Wardlow (w/MJF At Ringside)
  • IMPACT Tag team Championship Match: The Good Brothers (c) vs. Dark Order’s Evil Uno & Stu Grayson

Unleashing The Beast

MJF unleashes his “War Dog” Wardlow in a last-ditch attempt to stop Chris Jericho. Up to this point, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has pulled out everything, including the kitchen sink, to prevent Jericho from ever facing him again in a one-on-one match. “The Salt Of The Earth” surely did not expect Chris to make it this far. Jericho ran through some top competitors in the form of “The Chairman” Shawn Spears, Nick Gage, and Juventud Guerrera. MJF enlisted these men in the hope that they will  bring a premature end to the “Revenge Tour” of the “Demo God”. But, that didn’t exactly pan out, did it? Chris Jericho endured them all and he has never been more driven. This has long been personal between the two faction leaders. Jericho wanted to take MJF under his wing but Maxwell wanted to clip those wings from day one.

This brings us all to this point. Jericho is just one win away from setting up the showdown between him and MJF. But, the cocky loudmouth always has a contingency plan. In comes Wardlow. six-foot-three, 277 pounds of pure walking destruction. “Mr. Mayhem” has always been MJF’s backup plan come hell or high water and is surely the toughest test Jericho will face in these five labors. Does Chris Jericho have one more win in him to set up the grudge match, or will Wardlow end this valiant effort of the first-ever former AEW World Champion? Tune in to TNT this Wednesday night to find out.

Good versus Evil

The Elite, albeit in controversial fashion, ended the hopes and dreams of not only “Hangman” Adam Pagbut also the aspirations of his friends from The Dark Order. Last Week’s 10-man tag team elimination match was for all the marbles. The stipulation being if Kenny Omega and his boys were to win, not only does Page lose his AEW World Title match, but The Dark Order also lose their AEW Tag Team Title opportunity. The worst has indeed come true. Hangman and his buddies fell victim to the “win-at-all-cost” mantra of The Elite, which leaves them high and dry and with no AEW title opportunity in their near future.

It appears that The Good Brothers are in a giving mood. Indeed, The Dark Order cannot challenge the AEW World Tag Team Champions right now. No one ever said they can’t fight for the right to be called the IMPACT Wrestling World Tag Team Champions – this sets up the tag team turmoil come Wednesday night. The founding fathers of The Dark Order, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson, will face Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows for their IMPACT tag team gold. The Good Brothers might feel they are “throwing a bone” to Uno and Grayson but the forefathers of the most enigmatic group in AEW would beg to differ. Gold is gold and the duo will surely stop at nothing to capture it. Will Anderson and Gallows rub more salt into the wound or will Grayson and Uno bring back some hardware to The Dark Order? Find out this Wednesday.
