NWA Powerrr Card (5/18/21) – Pope vs. Matt Cross

NWA Powerrr 5/18/21

The road toward NWA When Our Shadows Fall, set for next month, continues with a new edition of NWA Powerrr. This should prove to be a must-see show, as it not only features a former NWA World Women’s Champion in action but a one-on-one contest for the NWA World Television Championship. The National Wrestling Alliance knows how to make the most of this one-hour-a-week program and this should prove to be no exception. Without any further delay, let’s take a deeper dive into the action.

Thunder Rosa vs. Jennacide

To say that Thunder Rosa has butted heads with Kamille, the current number one contender for the NWA World Women’s Championship, would be an understatement. Last week, along with Melina and Taryn Terrell, Rosa and Kamille met in a face-to-face confrontation. Kamille laid out a unique challenge to Rosa, a singles match with a stipulation that could change the path of “La Mera Mera” forever. Simply put, if Rosa loses to Kamille, she will unable to work for any promotion other than the National Wrestling Alliance. Not one to back down from a challenge, Rosa accepted.

Speaking of challenges, this week’s NWA Powerrr will see Thunder Rosa go head-to-head with Jennacide. Two weeks ago, on NWA programming, Jennacide picked up a notable win over Skye Blue, both of whom debuted for the promotion this past March. Jennacide’s other NWA appearance was, ironically enough, a match against Kamille. Despite a valiant effort, Jennacide was unable to topple the current number one contender. A victory over the former NWA World Women’s Champion would be huge for “The Bionic Beast,” but given Rosa’s current feud with Kamille, such a victory will be easier said than done.

NWA World Television Championship: Pope (c) vs. Matt Cross

Last week, Matt Cross faced Mims in a qualifying match for the NWA World Television Championship. Following his trademark cutter, Cross picked up the victory, cementing his spot as the new number one contender. Cross has been a semi-regular competitor for the National Wrestling Alliance, bringing his undeniable ability and experience to the fold. However, he has yet to hold NWA gold and this could be the opportunity he’s been looking for. To attain this goal on this week’s edition of NWA Powerrr, he will have to overcome a game champion in the form of Pope.

Pope will undoubtedly be prepared to take on a formidable opponent such as Matt Cross. However, the lion’s share of the NWA World Television Champion’s attention has been on Tyrus and his representative, Austin Idol. The latter has accused Pope of “running and hiding” with the title. Idol also mentioned that Pope is four wins away from the Lucky Seven; under this rule, if the NWA World TV Champion successfully defends the title seven times, they will be eligible for an NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match. Pope may have lofty goals in mind, but between the challenge factor of Cross and the suspicious duo of Idol and Tyrus, the champion needs to keep his head on a swivel.

Other Events to Expect on NWA Powerrr:

In a massive tag team encounter, Odinson and Parrow, known collectively as The End, will take on The War Kings, Crimson and Jax Dane. These are two of the hardest-hitting tag team in the National Wrestling Alliance, as well as wrestling in general. The War Kings will be looking to get back to their winning ways following a loss to Mims and Slice Boogie several weeks ago. The same can be said for The End; back in April, they suffered a loss to Thom Latimer and Chris Adonis of Strictly Business. When these two juggernaut tandems clash, something will have to give.

Fred Rosser and Marshe Rockett will meet NWA World Tag Team Champions Aron Stevens and Kratos in a non-title bout. This could be a major opportunity for Rosser and Rockett to establish themselves in the NWA’s tag team picture.

Additionally, the President of the NWA, William Patrick Corgan, will speak regarding the recent conduct of Strictly Business. What will Corgan have to say about the group led by Nick Aldis?
