GCW Announces Fight Forever, a 24-Hour Live Wrestling Event

GCW Fight Forever

At last night’s New Year’s Eve event, GCW Good Riddance, Joey Janela appeared to make a special announcement. During the event’s pre-show, Janela stood in the center of the ring to announce a new initiative in professional wrestling. This would be known as GCW Fight Forever, a 24-hour live wrestling event. It will begin on January 29th at 8 PM EST and run until January 30th at 8 PM EST. This event will serve to benefit independent wrestling around the world during COVID-19.

“When you think everything has been done in the professional wrestling business, think again,” said Janela during the Good Riddance pre-show. “There’s a new concept; this is the first time ever in the history of professional wrestling.” It’s also worth noting that Janela has been attempting to get in contact with the Guinness Book of World Records to officiate Fight Forever‘s status as the longest wrestling show in history.

Fight Forever will air from a closed set courtesy of the GCW Performance Center; this was where Slime Season, which aired last month, took place. This event will showcase various styles and feature different match stipulations. Furthermore, Fight Forever will air entirely for free. However, GCW will open donations, which go directly to the performers that have been negatively impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic; donations can be made through telethon and sponsorship methods. Further details regarding Fight Forever, including competitors taking part in the show, will be revealed over the next few weeks.

In a recent press release, GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale offered his thoughts on Fight Forever. “Independent wrestling is built on the passion and dedication of its talented performers. Their sacrifice fuels our industry. These athletes need support, and with no immediate end in sight to the current circumstances, FIGHT FOREVER is a historic opportunity for the wrestling community to come together and have their back when they need it the most.”
