Preview: WWE SmackDown — Big E vs. King Corbin (1/1/21)

Big E King Corbin SmackDown

SmackDown will kick off 2021 for WWE as two big-time matches have already been announced as well as Roman Reigns‘ goal to make a special request to WWE management following his second win over Kevin Owens last week. There’s plenty of uncertainty, however, regarding the show. After teasing in the preview commercial last week that “The Messiah” Seth Rollins would return to WWE, his possible return has been completely avoided since then. Rollins’ appearance will only help the brand, but perhaps fans will have to wait. Here’s the preview for the first SmackDown of the year.

Roman Reigns Makes A Special Request To WWE Management

Roman Reigns Kevins Owens SmackDown

Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens for a second time last week, as he walked out of the Steel Cage match still Universal Champion. Unfortunately for Owens, much of that had to do with Jey Uso handcuffing him to the cage to allow Reigns to walk right out. Now, “The Head of the Table” has a special request to WWE management. The request has not been disclosed and we should learn what it exactly is on Friday night.

Big E vs. King Corbin

Big E vs King Corbin SmackDown

Big E had the biggest win of his career last week when he pinned Sami Zayn in the main event for the Intercontinental Championship. This week, he will have his first match as the champion when he faces King Corbin in singles action. Corbin should have his “knights” by his side in Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake, so that could give him the advantage with Big E’s team still on Raw in The New Day. The “king” of WWE could jump to the head of the line with a win over the champion.

Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair vs. Bayley & Carmella

Sasha Banks Bianca Belair Bayley Carmella SmackDown

Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair will team for the third time in the past month as they face off with Bayley and Carmella. It’s a rather interesting team, as it’s the two fan-favorites putting aside any ego to form a pretty solid team. Both Banks and Bayley had incredible years in 2020 from a television standpoint, so it should be interesting to see how they can try and one up that year as they kick off 2021 against each other on SmackDown.
