Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in Brest defender Raphael Le Guen as they prepare for the expected departure of Maxence Lacroix, who is close to joining the Blues.

Raphael Le Guen to Palace?
Palace will be looking at new centre-backs with the expected departure of Maxence Lacroix and have shortlisted Le Guen as a potential option with the French defender recently finishing his first-ever season at senior level.
The 19-year old started the last four games of the season for Brest as the French side secured a 12th place finish in Ligue 1 and a move to South London would allow him to work under French compatriot Pierre Sage.
Sage has been quick to add depth to his defensive options with the deal for Spaniard Oscar Mingueza already sealed as well as interest in Augsburg’s Chrislain Matsima.

Crystal Palace Interested but Who Is Raphael Le Guen?
Le Guen is a product of the Brest academy and made his senior debut in August 2025 in a 3-1 away defeat against a Lens side managed by Pierre Sage.
The teenager then spent his next months on the bench and playing for the Brest B team before getting his chance at the back end of the season.
The centre-back started the final four games of the season, which included ninety minutes against both PSG and Strasbourg, with Brest being beaten by the odd goal in both.
Le Guen is comfortable in possession and has earned praise for his pace and recovery speed, with his qualities leading to him being described as a defender with “great potential.”
Palace have had continued success with French defenders, with Lacroix being a mainstay in the Eagles’ FA Cup and Conference League wins.
As well as Lacroix, Jaydee Canvot has shone since the departure of Marc Guehi in January and the teenage French defender is expected to start for the South London side next season.

Lacroix Set to End Successful Palace Stint
Palace will need greater defensive depth this season as they prepare for a four-competition campaign and the expected departure of Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea.
The deal for Lacroix is reportedly worth around £60 million, with the centre-back set to depart after an excellent two-season spell at Crystal Palace that saw him lift three trophies.
The South London side will need to reinvest the money effectively this summer as they look forward to their maiden UEFA Europa League campaign.
