England Team News

Thomas Tuchel has a fully fit squad to choose from after both Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka took part in full training during the past few days. The England boss may make one or two changes to the side that beat Croatia 4-2 with both Marc Guehi and Marcus Rashford pushing to start ahead of John Stones and Anthony Gordon.

Ghana Team News

Ghana will welcome back one player to their squad, but could be missing another through injury. This is after midfielder Thomas Party was finally granted access to North America. The former Arsenal player was denied entry to Canada after failing to disclose ongoing criminal proceedings in the UK.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi could be missing after he was injured in the Panama game.

Thomas Tuchel on What Needs to Improve

During his pre-match press conference, England boss Thomas Tuchel explained that defensively, his team must improve from the first game against Croatia. He said:“Defensively, we dropped a little too deep from a middle block into a low block and deep block, which is in itself not a problem, but we went a bit too early. We were a bit too man-man focused and didn’t rely enough on our structure to be able to push out again.

Maybe it is good that we conceded, because it just tells us: ‘Let’s not do this again.’

“But I was also very clear to the team: we deserved this win. We had a well-deserved win. And we have a lot of positives to take away, and I expect a very different team and a very different setup now.

The Easiest Type of Game for Carlos Queiroz and Ghana

Former Manchester United assistant and Real Madrid and Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz believes that games against the likes of England are the easiest. He said: “This is the easiest type of game, because when you’re about to play against England, France or Germany, you don’t need to say anything to the players. They’re fully motivated. Everybody is fully switched on and everybody wants to perform well.”
