Current Projected Chelsea Squad for 2026/27
Goalkeepers
There hasn’t been much movement in this area of the field. Mike Penders is returning from his loan at Strasbourg and has gone to the World Cup with Belgium. This should push down the third choice options for last season as Teddy Sharman-Lower and Gaga Slonina should struggle to even make the bench given the current depth.

As of now, the two of Rob Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen aren’t credibly linked with moves away so they will be joining Penders on this version of the squad.
Goalkeepers: Rob Sanchez, Mike Penders, Filip Jorgensen
Defenders
Since our last update Marc Cucurella has officially departed for Real Madrid. This has sparked some minor rumours from Spain that Alvaro Carreras will move the other way. Carreras was a favourite of Xabi Alonso during his time in charge and could follow him to London. We will tentatively be adding him to the projected Chelsea squad.

Of the players who featured across the back line towards the tail end of the campaign there aren’t many links to moves away so a number of them are currently expected to stay.
Despite not playing, last credible reports indicated that Tosin Adarabioyo could be kept because the team values his leadership so he may remain in the squad even if he doesn’t play much.
Defenders: Jorrel Hato, Alvaro Carreras, Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, Wes Fofana, Malo Gusto, Josh Acheampong, Reece James, Tosin Adarabioyo, Valentin Barco (started out as a left-back)
Midfielders
The core of last season’s pivots in Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Andrey Santos are expected to stay with nothing linking them with a move away. With a Here We Go already done it is also expected that Valentin Barco will be added, he can play a number of positions, including a pivot in midfield or as a wing-back.

Question marks still remain over Enzo Fernandez with Madrid’s interest heating up in recent days, there is every chance the Argentine has played his last match for the club.
Midfielders: Moises Caicedo, Andrey Santos, Romeo Lavia, Valentin Barco, Reece James (emergency option)
Attackers
A pretty loaded spot for the team with a number of options and big decisions to make over who stays and who goes. Nicolas Jackson is returning from loan at Bayern Munich while Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha are coming in on pre-agreements.

With Alejandro Garnacho, Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Joao Pedro, and others competing for minutes with the likes of Estevao, Jamie Gittens, and the aforementioned incomings there will either be a lot of outgoing loans or chaos for a small number of positions.
It looks likely that second-choice striker Liam Delap will go to Everton on loan which opens the door for Jackson to stay.
