It appears the Blues are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season when they will have Champions League football to contend with. It appears Djordje Petrovic has reached an agreement with the club that he can depart should an offer of £25.7 million. Ben Jacobs has also revealed one key issue that remains.

Remaining Issue Could Delay Petrovic Chelsea Departure
Via his X account, Jacobs revealed Strasbourg would like to sign Petrovic permanently, following his impressive loan spell at the club, during the 2024/25 season. In 31 Ligue 1 appearances, the Serbian goalkeeper kept 10 clean sheets.

Jacobs also reveals there is a lingering image rights issue for the 25-year-old, but it is unclear if this would hold up any exit.
Chelsea Goalkeeper Situation
Petrovic enjoyed an impressive season under Mauricio Pochettino before departing for Strasbourg on loan. Any potential return under Enzo Maresca was extinguished when Petrovic was left out of the Club World Cup squad, alongside other returning loanees, including Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan but were unable to get a deal over the line. The club struggled in certain areas last season, with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen both making costly mistakes during the season.

Recently speaking to the media, Maresca clarified the goalkeeping situation at Stamford Bridge: “The keeper situation is simple, Robert is No.1, Filip is No.2, and we will analyse and judge Penders. Maignan and different players at other clubs – I don’t think it is worth talking about them.”
