Chelsea have started to contact representatives as their goalkeeper search begins to intensify, claims the Evening Standard’s, Nizaar Kinsella. The Blues are already seemingly thinking about summer transfer deals as their season seemingly nears a disappointing end.

Chelsea Interested in Signing New Goalkeeper
Despite already having two goalkeepers in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy fight for the no.1 role, Chelsea feel like they need a new goalkeeper and have started a search for a new number one. Kinsella adds that the Blues have already contacted the representatives of some potential replacement options.

Those include Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and Borussia Dortmund no.1 Gregor Kobel – who excelled against them in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 clash earlier this season. Moreover, Kinsella states that they have also contacted the representatives of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, who is reported to be seeking an exit from the club in the summer.
It is also stated that if Chelsea can appoint Luis Enrique as the next permanent manager and successor to Graham Potter, then the Spaniard might push for them to sign Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Yan Oblak in the summer as well.
Chelsea Facing Issues With Edouard Mendy’s Future
When it comes to Mendy’s Chelsea future, it has been claimed that the relationship between the two is not positive. Mendy is reported to have rejected contract extension offers from Chelsea, who have also now paused talks over his long-term future at the club. He could end up leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer.

It could be because of the uncertainty around his future and Arrizabalaga’s inconsistent nature, that is pushing Chelsea to sign a new goalkeeper. Onana has been described as an “excellent’ goalkeeper” in the past and has 100 clean sheets in his professional career – with Kobel producing some brilliant performances this season like Raya. However, it remains to be seen which goalkeeper Chelsea push to sign after holding initial talks with their representatives.
