Nizaar Kinsella of the Standard has reported that Chelsea and Manchester United are two major names competing for Napoli star Victor Osimhen.
In his report, he states that the London side could “have a small emotive edge” in the competition. This is because the Nigerian striker grew up idolizing club legend Didier Drogba and has been pictured wearing the team’s old jerseys.

In Need of Goals
Graham Potter’s side will be desperate to pull off the signing of the Serie A’s leading marksman. They haven’t had a single player score 10 goals this season, with Kai Havertz on 9 leading the way. With just 29 strikes to their name in the Premier League this campaign, they are one of the least prolific clubs in the entire competition.

One way to solve such woes in front of the goal is to pick up a man who has netted 91 times in just 181 career appearances.
Financial Problems
According to Kinsella’s report, the price tag attached to Osimhen will be between £88 million and £132 million which could put off the Blues, who have just announced a loss of over £100 million. Todd Boehly has spent big already since taking charge but he will have to be wary of Financial Fair Play rules. The new regime is attributing vast amounts of those losses to the government sanctions placed on Roman Abramovich.

A fire sale could be on the horizon as the club aims to reduce their bloated squad and free up funds to chase Napoli’s star man. Names like Conor Gallagher, Mason Mount, Trevoh Chalobah, Romelu Lukaku, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be on the chopping block this summer according to the Standard’s report.
