Manchester United Want Three More Major Signings for Erik ten Hag Including ‘Unbelievable’ Star

Frenkie de Jong Erik ten Hag Three new signings

According to Jason Burt of The Telegraph, Manchester United are pressing ahead with their squad revamp looking to add three new signings before this summer’s transfer window closes. Burt is reporting that the Red Devils want Adrien Rabiot, Frenkie de Jong, and a striker. The Old Trafford club remain interested in Frenkie de Jong, and if they are successful in their pursuit of the Dutch international, it could mean they end their interest in PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo due to concerns over the £34 million asking price.

Three New Signings: Manchester United Identify Key Areas to Improve the Current Squad

Manchester United Identify Three Areas for Improvement

It’s been a largely frustrating start to Erik ten Hag‘s reign as manager. The pursuit of De Jong has proven difficult as the transfer window edges closer to ending. Despite missing out on key targets, the Red Devils have added Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, and Tyrell Malacia to their roster. Even with these new signings, Ten Hag has had a difficult opening spell in the Old Trafford hot seat, with rumours surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future and the so far fruitless pursuit of De Jong dominating the headlines.

Manchester United appear light in a number of areas including midfield, with Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, and Jesse Lingard all leaving the club this summer, and with only Christian Eriksen arriving in that position.

What the Three Potential Signings Would Bring to Manchester United

De Jong would be an “unbelievable signing” for the Manchester United midfield, with his excellent ability at finding space alongside his superb ball progression skills making him an instant upgrade for the club.

Rabiot was a vital part of the Juventus squad last season, making 45 appearances in all competitions, showcasing his excellent ball recycling capacity and physicality, meaning he could be a great potential partner for De Jong.

Gakpo is brilliant to watch, with his electric pace and deadly finishing, and this saw the 23-year-old attacker score 21 goals in 47 games last season. He also has the physicality to handle the Premier League, accompanied by excellent creativity making him a great fit for English football.
