Fabrizio Romano: Chelsea to Make Decision on 310-Goal ‘World-Class’ Star Later This Week

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea will soon decide on whether or not they want to make a transfer proposal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona, reports Fabrizio Romano. The Blues are looking for a new striker after selling Timo Werner and loaning out Romelu Lukaku in the summer.

Blues Interested in Bringing Aubameyang Back to the Premier League

The Gabon international is an attractive proposition for the London side because of his history in the Premier League, where he scored 68 goals in 128 appearances for London rivals Arsenal. The Blues have been interested in a move for Aubameyang for the last week when they realised that the La Liga giants would be open to selling him for the right price.

Romano reports that the 33-year-old would be happy to stay at Camp Nou this season even after the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich limiting his regular playing chances. But the prospect of linking up with his former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is intriguing for the forward and can compel him to make the move.

Aubameyang’s Relationship With Thomas Tuchel A Key Factor

Chelsea boss Tuchel still shares a very good relationship with the Gabon striker and that can be a key factor in the deal. Romano also adds that the German boss considers Aubameyang to be ‘the perfect striker’ for his system at Stamford Bridge and is pushing owner Todd Boehly to get a deal for him done.

However, Barcelona haven’t received any official proposals from any club for the 33-year-old yet. The Blues are yet to make a final decision on whether they’ll push for the striker and are still analysing whether he can be an ideal replacement for the departed Werner and Lukaku duo.

The 33-year-old striker left Arsenal on bitter terms earlier this year but scored 13 goals in just 23 appearances for the La Liga side in the second half of last season. Aubameyang is a highly experienced striker, who was called ‘world class’ by ex-Manchester United captain Gary Neville a few years ago. He’s scored 310 club goals in his career, which is why Tuchel probably wants to add him to lead his line this season.
