2021 was an amazing year for football in Italy. Roberto Mancini led the National Team to eternal glory as they defeated England in their own backyard. The domestic league was just as impressive as the title race went down to the wire between the two Milan clubs. With the new season within touching distance, here are the Serie A transfers of the summer so far.
Serie A Transfers to Keep an Eye On

Getting the best Serie A transfers in Bergamo and Atalanta are often lauded for their ahead-of-the-curve transfer business. Their move for English winger Ademola Lookman raises a few eyebrows following his struggles to impress with Everton, RB Leipzig and most recently, Leicester City. A rebuild is needed in the attacking third with several stars getting on. Lookman is a risk but in Gian Piero Gasperini we trust!
Luka Jovic to Fiorentina
Another team in need of a change in the final third is Fiorentina. The loss of Dusan Vlahovic is still being felt even after the winter signings. To accompany Arthur Cabral in the competition for the number 9 spot is Luka Jovic. He has been unable to handle the pressure of playing for Real Madrid and so the Serbian’s permanent departure from the Bernabeu is for the best.
Romelu Lukaku and Andre Onana to Inter Milan
Talking of players needing a fresh start and that is certainly the case for Romelu Lukaku. Having led Inter to the lead two years ago, a dream return to Stamford Bridge beckoned. The Belgian was a stylistic nightmare when it came to Thomas Tuchel’s plans and so he will be glad to see the back of Chelsea. It will take some time for Lukaku to mend the broken relationship with the Inter ultras, but he has the capabilities in front of goal to do just that. Andre Onana is a definite upgrade on an ageing Samir Handanovic in between the sticks too.
Bremer and Paul Pogba to Juventus
Paul Pogba opts to have therapy instead of surgery on his injured knee and is expected to miss five weeks.

Hoovering up talent from within the league is how teams such as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain stay on top. It is Juventus’ turn now as they bring in highly-rated Torino centre-back Bremer. The Brazilian isn’t as high profile a signing as Paul Pogba or Angel Di Maria but will prove to be just as effective in Turin. This is certainly one of the smartest Serie A transfers of the summer.
Alessio Romagnoli to SS Lazio
It is a case of one in and one out for one half of the Italian capital. The sale of Joaquin Correa to Inter allows for Mattia Zaccagni’s loan spell to be made permanent. Also, Luiz Felipe has joined Spanish side Real Betis on a free with Alessio Romagnoli replacing him. The defender and former Milan captain was edged out of the team by Fikayo Tomori and could not bounce back, so joining Lazio works for all parties.

Charles De Ketelaere to AC Milan
On the topic of the red half of Milan and the Rossoneri are tasked with defending their title this time around. In their bid to do that, wonderkid Charles De Ketelaere has been snapped up from Club Brugge. There was previously talk pointing towards Noa Lang being the target for Stefano Pioli from the defending champions of Belgium.
Andrea Ranocchia, Matteo Pessina and Stefano Sensi to Monza
Newly promoted teams spending a large amount of money isn’t exactly anything new. AC Monza are making the step up to the top-flight for the first time though and the club owned by former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi aren’t messing about. They have made several intriguing Serie A transfers but the at the fore of this is Andrea Ranocchia on a free as well as the loan moves for Stefano Sensi and Matteo Pessina. The latter arrives from Atalanta whilst the other two from Inter.

Napoli are at the end of an era as legendary duo Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne have both moved on to pastures new. Mertens has joined Turkish side Galatasaray whilst Insigne has made the move to MLS, where he runs out for Toronto FC. In their place, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has arrived, the Georgian international coming to Naples with a lot of hype behind him. Also, highly rated South Korean defender Kim Min-jae has been bought for £16 million.
Zeki Celik, Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum to AS Roma
The inaugural European Conference League went the way of AS Roma and Jose Mourinho. The legendary manager is now building on that legacy in Rome with a few hugely intriguing Serie A transfers already under his belt. Paulo Dybala was regularly linked with a move to Inter but the Juve man has instead ended up with the Giallorossi, who gave him a monumental welcome. Zeki Celik and Georginio Wijnaldum are the other two names, joining from Ligue 1 teams Lille and PSG respectively.
Domagoj Bradaric to Salternitana
Having stayed in the top-flight against the odds, Salernitana have raised a few eyebrows and spent roughly £30 million. Besides a 31-year-old goalkeeper, the rest of them are all 27 or younger. At the heart of all this, is another departing Lille star. Domagoj Bradaric, like Celik, was a fullback for the side that won the French title against the odds under Christophe Galtier. He is just 22 and the Croat is generally a great pickup.

Pietro Pellegri and Nemanja Radonjic to Torino
Penultimately, the Serie A transfers of the summer list returns to Turin. Nemanja Radonjic was in the Roma youth academy when he was younger and he is back on Italian shores. This is the Serbian’s third loan move away from Marseille. Meanwhile, Pietro Pellegri has often been spoken about as a prodigy but is yet to make that breakthrough. The 22-year-old scored once after joining Torino on loan in January and now he has joined on a permanent deal.
Festy Ebosele to Udinese
Finally, to one of many players departing Derby County following their relegation out of the Championship. They have ended up here, there and everywhere including Ravel Morrison and Nathan Byrne both joining DC United and Charlotte respectively in MLS. Festy Ebosele is the man in question and he showed signs of brilliance despite the tribulations his side were facing. 17 of his 35 appearances last term came from the bench and a move to Udinese could well see an increase in that for the Irishman.
